The other day someone asked me what exactly do I do as a SMG intern. The answer is simple; I jump in on a variety of projects that change focus week to week! Some days I am going on a highlighting frenzy while reading EPA models. Other days I am on the phone with U.S. geological survey (USGS) officials, going through water data on their website. Then there are days when I am able to be a part of a couple of projects at the same time, balancing excel sheets to bouncing to the library to look at Sanborn fire insurance maps. Whatever “it” is that I am doing here at SMG, I have been constantly learning the ins and outs of the environmental consulting industry as well as pushing myself to step up my performance with each task that is asked of me.
